Essay:Comment on the Russo-Ukranian conflict

I think there is no point in quoting a few sentences from Lenin about inter-imperialist disputes if you worship words and ignore concrete reality. Some people only analyze the words, but ignore the context of Lenin's time. In Lenin's time, the United States of America had not even established itself as a hegemonic imperialist power.

The inter-imperialist conflict that has heated up in Ukraine can indeed be considered an inter-imperialist dispute, but one should not lose sight of the fact that the US, the EU and its armed arm, NATO, still maintain their hegemony over the sharing of the world. Russia can indeed be considered imperialist, due to the presence of monopolies in its productive chain, but Brazil also has imperialist aspects and the presence of several regional monopolies, some even national. We have more banks in the list of the world's largest than Russia.

Russia, as well as Brazil, is also an economy that exports simple commodities, raw materials. It is not dependent capitalism like Brazil, as you can see by its resilience in the face of sanctions. Since the beginning of Russian military operations, Russia has become the most sanctioned country in the world, with more than 2000 economic blockades, a form of warfare never seen on these proportions in history. Still, Russia has held on for the time being, albeit weakened. Brazil would have fallen into complete chaos in a crisis of unimaginable proportions. Something that every revolutionary movement outside of the imperialist countries should take note of.

Simply because Russia is in a position to contest the hegemony of the North Atlantic, it is already a progressive force, and even so by fighting against a rising Nazi government next door which had increased its military investment and its threats is a preemptive strike against a historical disaster that we have already witnessed in the past, the genocide of 27 million Soviet lives during World War II. The legacy of the war in the collective unconscious of the Russian people spans generations, which is why even an important sector of the Russian bourgeoisie undertakes this effort against Ukrainian Nazism.

Russia, in counterpoint to North Atlantic imperialism, played a positive historical role in the struggle against imperialism internationally, even if it was not explicitly an anti-imperialist nation. Russian efforts to assist its economic partners in Latin America like Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua, to counter US wars against Syria, Iran, and former Soviet republics like Yugoslavia, to strengthen its economic partnership with China are efforts toward a multilateral world.
