Socialism has a long history in Canada dating back to the late 19th century.

Socialist Labour Party (defunct)[edit | edit source]

The Socialist Labour Party was founded in 1998 as a Canadian extension of American counterpart, the Socialist Labor Party of America. it was largely inspired by the ideas of American Socialist Daniel De Leon.

The Party dissolved in 2005 after the death of its national secretary, Doug Irving.
