The Party of Labour of Austria (PdA) is a communist party in Austria that evolved from the Communist Initiative after it split from the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) in 2013. The central organ of the PdA is their newspaper "Zeitung der Arbeit" (ZdA) On 16 November 2024 the party posted their final resolution on China.[1] There they upheld an ultra-left and dogmatic line on the People's Republic. In the short statement, the PdA claims that in the People's Republic of China private capital is constantly rising, but provides no data and makes the mistake of conflating markets with capitalism (especially for developing economies). To that first point, according to Hurun's 2024 rich list, China lost 432 billionaires since the high of 1,185 in 2021.[2]

In February 2024 the PdA posted a resolution where they show support to the Republic of Cuba.[3]

In the Vienna district election they won 0.20% of the votes in the 15. district Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus.[1]

According to a few old members the PdA has similarities to the KKE-Model, for instance the Revisionist distortion of Lenin's imperialism theory as every single country being an Imperialist country if they export finance capital is prevalent. This leads to false conclusions such as rejecting the National Liberation struggle in Burkina Faso.

Recently the Party of Labour of Austria has begun organizing reading circles.[2]

"Einheit und Widerspruch" (Unity and contradiction) is the name of their theoretical publications.[1]

The Party of Labour of Austria (PdA) defines its primary objective as the socialist revolution and the construction of socialism. It explicitly rejects reformist alternatives such as social democracy, solidarity society, or social market economy, viewing these as either capitalist variants or contradictions in terms. According to the PdA, socialism requires the political rule of the working class and the public ownership of the means of production, guided by planned productivity growth, ecological sustainability, the abolition of exploitation, and the promotion of socialist consciousness.[2]
