The Communist (Maoist) Party of Afghanistan was founded in 2004 through the merger of five other parties.

Their main objective is the overthrow of the reactionary theocratic regime, and to achieve the victory of the New Democratic Revolution and the Socialist Revolution and to struggle for communism.[1]

History

War in Afghanistan (2001-2022)

While they opposed the Taliban during the Afghanistan war from 2001 to 2021, they mainly opposed the USA and its puppet government. They criticized the Taliban for its demand for semi-colonial independence, which they called a defective pursuit because it "is only based on the partial solution to the current principal contradiction and is unable to guide society towards the final solution of the fundamental contradiction."[2] They saw the Taliban's taking of territory as merely "for the purposes of increasing their gains on the path of capitulation with the occupiers", falling short of a real war of resistance.[2]
