The Communist Party of Germany (KPD), also commonly abbreviated as KPD-Ost to differentiate from the historical Communist Party of Germany (KPD), is a communist party in Germany. It was formed by former members of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) in the German Democratic Republic after the fall of the Berlin Wall and claims the legacy of the original KPD.
