The CPA (M–L) was founded on 15 March 1964 by E.F. Hill. In its early years, it was most popular in the state of [[Victoria]]. The Communist Party of Australia (Marxist–Leninist), abbreviated CPA (M–L), is a revolutionary Marxist–Leninist party in Australia. It was formed in 1964 after a split from the Communist Party of Australia due to the revisionism of the Soviet Union at the time. It acknowledges that the indigenous peoples of Australia never gave up sovereignty of their lands and sees them as an indispensable ally of the proletariat.[1]

History

The CPA (M–L) was founded on 15 March 1964 by E.F. Hill. In its early years, it was most popular in the state of Victoria. In November 1964, South Australian union leader Charlie McCaffrey joined the party. He worked in a rubber mill where a branch of the Australia China Society was established in 1966 and helped open a bookshop where Australian and Chinese communist literature was sold. The Student Worker Coordinating Committee accepted the line of the CPA (M–L) in the 1960's.[2]
