The main ideology of the KOE is Marxism and Maoism as they support Marxist Ideology with all the historical experience of the Communist Movement.
The KOE was created in the Communist Party of Greece when the KKE turned to Revisionism during 1956 causing the party to expel Nikos Zachariadis and due to the KKE's Revisionist turn, that caused Stalinists to be excluded. Numerous members of the KKE who left started their own organization called the Organization of Marxist-Leninists of Greece.
