The Tudeh Party of Iran is a communist party in Iran.

1953 coup[edit | edit source]
In 1953, the Tudeh Party has 25,000 cadres and 335,000 members of its union federation. After being pressured by the United States, Mohammad Mossadegh cracked down on the party before being overthrown in a CIA-backed monarchist coup. The Shah exiled tens of thousands of party members killed thousands more.[1]
